Welcome to Mischief Musical Theatre.
We are a new drama and musical theatre company based at The Dance Centre in Bridgend. Following the success of the Dance Academy Show School projects we have decided to expand our love of shows and performing and move into the theatre world! The group which is run by Gemma and Tim will be focusing on acting, singing, stagecraft, theory, lighting & sound production. We will occasionally have guest tutors in to host workshops and cover teachers when needed.
We will be running classes to build technique confidence, progress through examinations and put on productions. We want to create a fantastic environment for the students to learn and develop. The theatre can be such a magical mischievous place and we believe all children should enjoy it! The full biographies of the teachers will be up on the website shortly.
Fees & Payments.
Classes are paid every half term or term in advance, or you can pay the amount in two instalments by DD. Please ask us for details. Please be aware you cannot pay weekly for the sessions, you are paying for a place, if you are absent for any reason the sessions do not get carried forward. If we cancel a class for any reason, we will refund you or credit for the next course. Payments can be made by cash or card at the studio. Please also read our general Terms & Conditions for the Academy.
Throughout the year we will be putting students forward for examinations in Drama with the U.K.A and Musical Theatre Singing with LAMDA. There will be opportunities for solo exams and group singing exams. We will establish which students would like to work toward these awards and will let you know when they are ready. We are aiming for the first exam sessions to be held in the Autumn term October/November. These types of exams are usually held on a week day, the same as some other dance exams. We will give the students letters to advise the school that they need the time off as it is an extra-curricular accredited examination.
Concerts & Performances.
As we are newly formed group, we will be finding our feet and working on scripts and songs over the next few weeks. At the end of this term we will be inviting parents into the lesson for a show and tell of what we have been learning. In the Autumn term we will be hosting a Musical Showcase evening concerts at the Dance Centre to show our work in a more formal way. The dates for the concerts are Friday 6th and Saturday 7th December. Our target is to produce a full Musical next April / May 2020. We will be auditioning and casting roles from September onwards.
We will be holding a presentation evening twice a year. This will be to present the examination awards students will have done and to give recognition and merit awards from the teachers. We are very keen to encourage the students with their achievements and lots of positive reinforcement of their learning. All students will be involved even if they haven’t taken any examinations yet.
