Pilates Live Classes with Catherine

 

Hello Everyone,

We have been running our live stream classes in Pilates for our adult studhatents from the studio and the community classes.  We are new to all this technology, so please be patient with us whilst we are testing this system.  If you are unable to access the lessons in this way we have created a pre-recorded video lesson, just message Cath and she can give you the password to get onto the page. 

We will be looking forward to holding classes in person again in the Autumn.  Regarding the guidelines on Covid 19 experts have said that the research so far suggests that small Yoga and Pilates classes, are not linked to any increase in infections.  This is possibly because the slower movement, socially distanced and fewer people in the class has decreased the risk.  There is hope for us yet.    

So What Is Pilates?

Pilates is a form of exercise which concentrates on strengthening the body with an emphasis on core strength. This helps to improve general fitness and overall well-being.

Similar to Yoga, Pilates concentrates on posture, balance and flexibility. In Pilates the chance of injury is much lower than with other more strenuous forms of exercise.

Pilates also focuses on the mind-body connection. While doing the various exercises your mind needs to be constantly aware of your breathing and the way your body moves.

This form of exercise was developed by Joseph Pilates in Germany where he was a carpenter and gymnast. He invented Pilates as an exercise program for injured dancers and soldiers while living in the UK. Joseph Pilates believed that physical and mental health were closely connected. In the 1920's he immigrated to the US and opened a Pilates studio in New York. Originally this form of exercise was called Contrology.

 

How will the classes run?

We will be using the software Zoom to do the classes you will have to download it to a phone/tablet or you can use a laptop.  You will need to register and then Cath will send you a code to join the meeting each week.  Please try to make arrangements before the class start time as it may not let you join if the session has already begun.        

When will the classes take place?

We will be now offering a 1 hour class every Wednesday morning at 10:30 am.  Once we get the hang of it, we will look to host an evening session aswell, and expand the length of the classes.  

How to I book and pay?

If you would like to book on to the sessions you can message Cath directly or you if you don't have her contact you can messgage the studio phone 07490828992 and we will pass it on to her.  You can either pay per session or you can book for the month.  You can either use the pay buttons below, you don't have to have a Paypal account it will direct you to a checkout where you can pay securely using a debit or credit card.  Please be aware the pay buttons do not always dislay on a phone or tablet, but will show on a laptop.  If you are not able to do this, contact Cath and she can provide you with Bank details to do a transfer instead.
